Why is pole dancing reserved only for strippers? I mean, sure, lots of strippers do stuff with poles, but I wouldn’t really call it “pole dancing” most of the time. I mean, the vast majority of strippers I’ve seen hump, lean seductively on, or slide down the pole. That’s not really what it means to pole dance, is it?
I do know one stripper that does some wicked amazing things on the pole. Like, she just hangs out up on there striking amazing poses. It’s beautiful. When she does that, she’s generally scantily clad, but she’s not stripping while doing it.
I know a dancer– not a stripper– who does what I think pole dancing should be. She’s incredible. I really can’t describe it, you just have to see these girls.
Anyway, my point is this: Why do people get all huffy when some pop starlet incorporates a pole into her act? It’s a fucking pole, guys. Cirqe de Soliel use them all the time. What’s the big deal?
